Civil Rights matters
usually refer to cases that protect the rights and
freedoms afforded to each American citizen through
the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the
United States. These basic rights can be violated by
the government and, when a person believes they have
been, a civil rights action can be filed. Examples
of a civil rights violation might include being a victim
of police brutality or misconduct, false arrest or
malicious prosecution, or use of excessive force during
an arrest and so on. These matters are of vital importance
to our country so that we as a nation maintain the
integrity and enforcement rights of our constitutional
law.
