ADDITION OF UNINSURED GUARANTY FUND
HAD GENESIS IN PA. Bar Association WORKERS’ COMPENSATION LAW SECTION
The addition of the Uninsured Employers Guaranty Fund in the 2006 amendments has its genesis in the advocacy of PA Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Law Section member Lenard A. Cohen.Mr. Cohen first proposed this innovation in 1999. Eventually, along with Hal Banks, he prepared a report that was approved by the section. Thereafter, he presented the recommendation to the entire PA Bar Asspcoatopm, which approved the idea. He now remarks, “I am so glad that it was passed. It is truly a great benefit for the injured workers of this Commonwealth who are faced with an uninsured employer.”
